James Abourezk
James Abourezk is a lawyer in Sioux Falls, SD, who represented South Dakota in the House of Representatives from 1971 to 1973 and in the Senate from 1974 to 1979. After his retirement from politics, he founded the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, a grassroots civil-rights organization. He is the author of a successful political memoir Advise and Dissent, and co-author, with Hyman Bookbinder, of Through Different Eyes: Two Leading Americans -- a Jew and an Arab -- Debate U.S. Police in the Middle East.
