There’s nothing like starting a new year, and new decade, with a threat of nuclear annihilation! Well done, Mr. Trump! It took three years, but you finally brought us to the brink of another war in the Middle East. Personally, I thought you’d manage this before your first State of the Union, but I guess you needed time to figure out how war powers work.
On this episode of the Burke’s Law podcast, Leonard Jacobs, the ever-witty Executive Editor of The Clyde Fitch Report, and I discuss the impending nightmare of President Trump. While neither of us can understand exactly which mental illness(es) he has, I bet on malignant narcissism — a desperate need to serve himself up as a tough guy with a side dish of mental incapacitation. The irony: the more Trump tries looking tough, the weaker he appears.
“We are convinced that, as the time of possible impeachment approaches, Donald Trump has the real potential to become ever more dangerous, a threat to the safety of our nation,” said Drs. Bandy Lee, a Yale psychiatrist, Jerrold Post, a former CIA profiler, and John Zinner, a psychiatrist at George Washington University.
Trump has spent three years belittling our Allies, NATO and the EU. Now we ‘re isolated, in danger, our friends will most likely turn their backs, and I do not blame them. Trump has insulted, mocked, pouted and generally told our friends that he doesn’t need anyone! Well, except Vladimir Putin, of course. Now that Trump has been impeached and will always have an asterisk by his name in the history books, he’s unraveling at a faster pace. Give a listen as Leonard and I try to make sense of the senseless — and please email us and let us know where you think America will be in six months. If we’re even still alive. Whoever comes the closest to seeing the actual future accurately will be our guest in the first week of June.
Program note: in 2020, the Burke’s Law Podcast will come at you in 20-minute segments each week!
