Meghan Beals Brings New Plays to Chicago in 2016

In this final installment of Chicago Playwrights, we talk to Meghan Beals about the remainder of Chicago Dramatists’s 2015-2016 season. Beals is the new Artistic Director at Chicago Dramatists, having previously worked as the organization’s Associate Artistic Director. She has also directed work for the Goodman, Steppenwolf, Northlight, Collaboraction, Pavement Group, Theatre Seven and, in New York, the Women’s Project, Abingdon Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre and The Pearl. Chicago Dramatists’s upcoming plays for 2016 include Beautiful Autistic by Scott Woldman and American Beauty Shop by Dana Lynn Formby.

Sean Douglass is a Chicago-area author, playwright and dramaturg. As a dramaturg, he has worked with various theaters throughout the Midwest, including numerous productions with Northlight Theatre, and his plays have been produced or developed at UW-Madison, The Vermont College of Fine Arts, The Chicago Fringe Festival, Luminous Theatre of Milwaukee and Chicago Dramatists. | Bec Willett is an Australian, Chicago-based director and designer. She has worked with an array of Chicago theatre companies including Prologue Theatre Company, where she is also an Artistic Associate; Pulse Theatre Company; Waltzing Mechanics; Chicago Dramatists; Actors’ Gymnasium and the OverUnder Collective – a theatre collective she co-founded with the goal of supporting young artists.
