The CFR is joining forces with Ovation to promote a Twitter contest to coincide with its two-week Broadway salute, called Music of the Night. The salute began, as many of you know, last Sunday night with the basic cable premiere of Cats.
Here’s how the Twitter contest works: tweet the plot of a Broadway show (plays are okay, you know) and include the hashtag #bwayplot.
On June 18, Ovation will select what it considers to be “the most creative and entertaining Twitter summaries” and will give away a selection of prizes including tickets to a Broadway show and/or tickets to a regional theater production (if a trip to New York isn’t in your future) as well as autographs and musical memorabilia.
A very big thank you to Danyel Madrid of Ovation for reaching out.
Here’s a clip about the salute:
The network will also televise, among other shows:
South Pacific (2001), with Glenn Close and Harry Connick Jr. (Sat. June 12, 7pm EST)
The Music Man (2003), with Matthew Broderick and Kristin Chenoweth (Sun., June 13, 7pm EST)
Once Upon A Mattress (2005), with Carol Burnett, Tracey Ullman, Zooey Deschanel and Mark Morrison (Tue., June 15, 7pm EST)
Noises Off (1992), directed by Peter Bogdanovich and starring Carol Burnett, Michael Caine, John Ritter, Christopher Reeve, Nicollette Sheridan, Marilu Henner and Julie Hagerty (Wed., June 16, 7pm EST).
Here’s an example of a #bwayplot summary: Angel of Music? Christine finds opera house genius hidden w/mask. Kidnapped + released, she chooses lover over Phantom. Revenge? #BWayPlot.
And listen, peeps: get creative, snarky, smart, insightful, clever — and get going. Tell Ovation TV that the CFR sent ya.
Who knows where this can lead?
