Volumes have been written in the last two years regarding the dismal state of Michigan’s economy and the even poorer fiscal state of the arts organizations operating within it.
Now, the Cultural Alliance of Southeastern Michigan, a nonprofit group representing over 90 cultural institutions across seven counties, has launched The Cultural Concierge, a new effort to stimulate activity and awareness of the state’s creative sector.
According to a press release, The Cultural Concierge will offer “creative entertainment, events, team-building and group sales” in order to “increase earned revenue opportunities for nonprofit cultural arts organizations” and “forge a stronger relationship between the business and cultural arts communities.” The endeavor fits neatly into the mission of the Cultural Alliance, which is devoted to forging “new approaches for increased earned revenue, cost reduction, and greater efficiencies for arts and culture organizations.”
The Cultural Concierge, says the release, will coordinate “holiday parties, client entertainment, off-site meetings, staff teambuilding, group tickets and fundraising events” through four “product lines”:
Memorable small group events featuring special access and opportunity. Each experience, at organizations such as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, and Cranbrook Educational Community is customized and coordinated by a concierge.
Events & Parties
The Cultural Concierge provides consulting to clients looking to plan a large business or personal function. A concierge will meet to determine the goals, scope and budget of the event before recommending several appropriate cultural arts venues.
Learning & Teambuilding
Utilizing the cultural assets in our region, organizations can coordinate full or half-day teambuilding events at a variety of organizations, such as the Detroit Institute of Arts or The Henry Ford.
For groups of any size, The Cultural Concierge arranges affordable tickets for performances at Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings, University Musical Society, Music Hall and Michigan Opera Theater, among others.
