Manhattan Community Boards Announce Meetings to Solve Off-Off-Broadway’s Woes

Pincus, who is managing director of the WorkShop Theater Company and, per his bio, “serves on NYC Community Board 4 as an advocate for the preservation of theater on the West Side of Manhattan,” here is information on upcoming Community Board meetings focused on the theater world in those areas, especially the fiscally struggling Off-Off-Broadway community:

Upcoming dates and agenda for Manhattan Community Boards 3, 4 and 5 Arts/Theater Task Forces:

Community Board 3 Arts Task Force is meeting at 7:00 p.m. on 7/14 at Theater for a New City to discuss their upcoming Fall Forum on Arts Education.
TNC is located at 155 1st Avenue, between East 9th and East 10th Streets.

Community Board 4 Theater Task Force is meeting at 6:30 p.m. on 7/20 at CB4’s Offices:

Virginia Louloudes of ART/NY is the invited guest as we discuss the creation of a survey categorizing the needs of the Small to Mid-Sized Theater Community, and getting those results to our elected officials….We will also discuss a recent meeting with representatives from Council Member/NYC City Council Speaker Christine Quinn’s office on CB4 Theater Task Force initiatives.

Community Board 5 will be holding a public meeting in late August, as their current focus in on the rezoning of the Garment Center, and the lack of protections for theaters in the current zoning language. Details on that meeting will be provided at a later date.
