Courtesy of publicist Scott Klein, The Clyde Fitch Report has learned of a private reading of a new play today titled Bang Zoom.
Could this mean Danny Masterson, everyone’s favorite That ’70s Show stoner, could be serious about spending time on the New York rialto?
Here’s the 411 — stay tuned.
Masterson, Grinnell, and Opel lead reading of
BANG ZOOM, by Danny Jacobson
Danny Masterson (That 70’s Show, Yes Man), Todd Grinnell (Parks and Recreation, Four Kings), and Nancy Opel (The Toxic Avenger, Fiddler on the Roof) lead an fantastic cast in a reading of Danny Jacobson’s new comedy, Bang Zoom.
Eli Gonda (Sleepwalk With Me) directs the by-invitation-only reading at the Bleecker Street Theater, Tues., July 28. The cast also features Finnerty Steeves (Almost, Maine, Away We Go), David Beach (Urinetown), Catherine Reitman (The Real Wedding Crashers) and Regan Thompson.
Bang Zoom is a hilarious story about an unlikely partnership: A righteous Park Avenue lawyer unwittingly invites the devil into his life in the form of a gambling, womanizing waiter.
The show marks a return to Manhattan for native New Yorker Danny Jacobson. After beginning his career performing the role of Kenickie in the Broadway Company of Grease, Jacobson moved to Los Angeles, writing for acclaimed series Soap and Fame. After working with Murphy Brown creator Diane English on My Sister Sam, Jacobson was one of the original writer-producers of Roseanne. He also created/executive produced Davis Rules and is probably best known for co-creating and executive producing Mad About You, for which he earned a Golden Globe.
