New Profile of Marx Brothers Place; CM Lappin Aims to Upgrade Landmarks Law

Kudos to Susan Hefti of the 93rd Street Beautification Association for her involvement in an excellent Uptown Radio story on the ongoing efforts to create Marx Brothers Place and, more broadly (yet of equal importance), to have the Carnegie Hill Historic District extended 60 feet in order to protect that priceless landmark of American culture — the structure where the Marx Brothers were raised.

While you’re thinking about NYC landmarks, please take a moment to read the text of NYC Council Member Jessica Lappin’s new legislation intended to make the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission’s Request For Evaluation (RFE) a more efficient and transparent process.

The question now is whether the whole City Council can get behind this. You can track this legislation, I believe, here.
