Story continues below.

While the gay rights movement has largely been centered on the west side in neighborhoods like Chelsea, Greenwich Village and the West Village, Fourth Arts Block (FAB) and the Lower East Side Business Improvement District (LES BID) are proudly partnering to expand Gay Pride Week to the East Side of New York with Pride Goes East.

Pride Goes East will be a weeklong celebration of special events and local deals during Pride Week in the city. Pride Goes East will attract patrons to the East Village and Lower East Side with exclusive restaurant deals, nightlife specials, shopping discounts and free entertainment — all geared to bring out the Pride in everyone.

On June 27, 2009, there will be pedicabs shuttling passersby free-of-charge between the two neighborhoods. Pride-goers can grab a discounted brunch in the LES and receive deals at the hippest boutique. After shopping, they can hop into a pedicab to catch a show in the East Village! Finally, jump back into a pedicab to party the night away at Lolita Bar for specialty drinks and discounted beers.
