Revealing the Other Side of Christmas

November has just started, but it’s already time to start thinking about holiday programming. So in this episode of Chicago Playwrights, we speak with Jason Paul Smith, the artistic director of Three Cat Productions, on his upcoming show Holiday Stories—The Other Side of Christmas. While he’s not a playwright with Chicago Dramatists, his show features the work of Resident Playwright Susan Lieberman, along with a long list of their network playwrights, including David Bald, Hope Hommersand, Paul Moulton, Paul Pasulka, Lisa Scott, Fouad Teymour, Helen Valentia and Joe Weintraub. Watch the video to learn more about how Three Cat Productions is exploring alternative holiday stories—from Jewish Christmas trees to suicide hotlines—while demonstrating a unique commitment to Chicago’s newest writers.

Holiday Stories—The Other Side of Christmas runs from December 2 to January 3 at Three Cat’s venue in Berger Park.
